When you called us 
to talk about death, 
no one wanted to hear it. 

Not your eldest, 
who was lost
still fighting his childhood. 

Not I, 
who needed a drink or three
to soothe my biggest fears. 

Not your youngest, 
who was only sixteen 
and trying to focus on mischief
