I’m about two weeks late for Halloween because I don’t celebrate it. My grandparents said it was for Pagans and they were who raised me, so I have been living a non-Halloweeny life from the nineties till now. I’ll let you know if that changes. For now, here are some completely unrelated scaries that I can think of, according to the puppet master aka my brain.

  1. having to go inside a federal building

  2. government documents arrived in post - what do they want?

  3. you drank too much coffee, now you’re scared of everything

  4. mice suddenly appear from an entry point you didn’t know existed

  5. computer crashes, you did great work all morning & forgot to press save

  6. help! got water on laptop!

  7. locked keys in the house while scantily dressed w bad hair; phone locked inside the house w keys.

  8. you have to pay estimated tax

  9. a family of roaches scuttle across your floor

  10. glass broke and splintered and a bit might have landed in food, but you ate it anyway because you were hungry & now you’re worried you ate glass + you googled accidentally eating glass on reddit and it actually sounds quite serious

  11. threat of a sudden untimely death

  12. threat of a slow, expected death

  13. talkative Uber driver on a long journey after your red-eye flight w no sleep

  14. any networking event, ever

  15. you’re stuck in a house with other people’s frightening family dynamics

  16. and it’s Christmas time
